The company I work for have 2 focus' and a fiesta (all between 6 months and a year old) as pool cars. They're all awful to drive! Slow as hell, floaty clutches and the brakes have no graduation to them, they're either on or off.

See you post it is a Focus 1.6, I found the Astra 1.6 exactly the same, had a 12 plate hire car for 2 weeks in june. The 1.6 felt extremely under powered in the Astra and it was mega gutless. It was truly an awful drive.

the wife is no long back from 400 mile journey the day and confirmed she hates it too,a trully over rated ,horrid fugly speciman of crapness! not pleasant in or out ,case in point design wise, wtf is the handbrake lever all about? its fappin huge and unsightly,i dont doubt a 1.6 astra is pretty poor performance wise but i know which one id choose if i had too!

What do you expect - the public now want cars that do a million miles to the gallon and run perfectly clean with no emissions - to get this you have to sacrifice something and that is performance by detuning the engine - so you get a gutless motor that runs on fresh air
