    Default Autobox snatching

Hi guy's, I hope someone can offer advice on this problem:
While pulling away from stationary the auto box changes from 1st to 2nd and then just on the point of changing into 3rd it feels as though the gearbox finds a false neutral, engine revs climb because vehicle is under accelration condition and then gearbox dumps back into drive/3rd causing a snatching effect a bit like dumping the clutch on a manual tranny, it has spun the wheels in the wet. The car is an 06 Vectra c 1.9CdTi 150 Elite with 6 speed auto trans, any advice welcome before I take it to Eden at Exeter and feed them the keys.

Get it looked at soonest might be lucky and just need an transmission fluid change but better checked before it does any damage, mine needed changing because I left it mine took a couple of seconds to select first when put into drive.

Hi paulhb, it goes into drive ok but doesn't do this snatching thing all the time, it has been into Vauxhall and they say they checked the fluid level and said it was fine, they checked for a burnt smell and that was ok, they even took it for a 30 mile drive and said it was driving ok but when it's playing up like this it is nasty to drive.

I'd recommend to change the fluids anyway. And you could try also Lubegard Platinum, it should help with sticking valves etc.

    Hi tnewbery,
It has been a while since last posting but the situation is still the same with the autobox, it's like it hits a false neutral and then just dumps it into gear by which time the rpm's have shot up because you are trying to accelerate, it can't be very good for the transmission.
It has been back to the dealers for several issues since and has cost a small fortune, to date it has had: New front springs during MOT, New glow plugs, New inlet manifold and last week a new EGR valve, in the last 6 months the total bill is £1,500 ish and the autobox is still playing up

Trans oil and filter change sounds like a sticking valve if not sorted soon you'll be needing a new box due to the bands burning out is the oil a clean colour or is they any black tinge to it most common faults with autos is people don't realise they need oil and filter changes every few years atleast once the main 3years of warranty. Servicing is done it gets left I've done my fair share of changing auto box's one of the main reasons I used to buy themspares or repairs box is slipping / snatching gears hth

i had this with my 150 cdti, it was getting to be a real issue for me.

Changed the trans fluid and to date have had no issues at all, the changes in general are smoother and i have found it doesnt 'dump' it into the next gear like it used to.
Mine had done about 200K when it was changed, its now on 245K and is still smooth
