    Default cigarette lighter blowing a fuse

    a mates cigarette light in his vectra C is constantly blowing a fuse.
    any ideas guys on why this is happening ?

    Is it blowing a fuse when the cigarette lighter is in it? As it sounds like it is shorting out.

    Check insode it for any debris.

    It's only blowing a fuse be ause it's shorting out. Just need to work out why lol

    Use a test light over the fuse. An disconnect parts of the circuit until light goes out.

    When light goes out that's the part of the circuit with short.

    But to start make sure no rust inside the actual power socket

    erm............ you've got me there Critch, test light? disconnect parts of the circuit? sorry but thats a different language to me LOL

    It'll probably be as mentioned either debris in the socket or corrosion. Simplest way to narrow it down is to disconnect the plug from the socket assmebly, replace the blown fuse, and turn on the ignition. If the fuse doesn't blow then it's the socket at fault. Either investigate further or replace - a new socket isn't that expensive.

    Haha sorry mate

    Just get simple bulb an some wore to make a test light.

    Then just disconnect the wires to See which one turns it out.

    Or as mentioned just disconnect power socket an replace fuse if it doesn't blow it's the socket
