Default Alarm goes off randomly-have fault codes

    Hi all,

my alarm has been going off randomly and even brought up a dash warning light.

    The codes I have are:

B3916 - No Communication With Alarm Siren (bit strange because I am sure the siren works when the alarm goes off)

B3803 - Comfort Closing Low Voltage or Circuit Open

B2966 - Driver Doorknob Circuit Open or High Voltage

I think B3803 is a common fault and would not start the alarm.

Whats the driver doorknob circuit, is it linked to the handle or something?

Car is 2005 full canbus hatchback 1.9 CDTi 150 prefacelift

Think B2966 driver doorknob circuit is related to drivers door module mate, think its telling car door is open so could trigger alarm

Check the wiring channel from the body to door, may be frayed wires causing a short, or a faulty door module in the door itself.

none of them would be setting the alarm off.... drivers door knob one has been present on many a car i've checked. currently present on mine, i believe its something to do with when the door knob is pushed down it then locks all the other doors...

you really need the alarm codes, they are stored under the BCM i believe

ps. if there was anything wrong with the door wiring your courtesy light wouldnt be working when the door open/closes...

no codes reported under the BCM

I will wait for it to go off again.

When it started to go off a week or two back it brought up a dash warning light. The dash warning light went off once the engine started so it was something that was recorded but not present again.

there is a seperate section which opcom cant see mate... only tech2 can see it... (think vauxcom maybe can but couldnt when i owned it) lists the actual reason for trigger of alarm including the time/date stamp as well and alarm codes will not bring up dash warning lights lee

cheers for the info Dean, I will have to go to VX to get the codes read then

not sure what the dash warning light was then, coincidental? Just strange it came on twice after the alarm was triggered
