    Default 2.2 direct timing chain

    Hi guys & gals
as some might know I have just bought a 2005 preface Sri 2.2 direct & what I would like to ask is its got a few miles on it but has a full service histroy I have been reading on the forum about the timing chain & tensioner that some have put the tensioner fron the 2.0 turbo I have had a look down the back of my engine on the chain side & I can see it has the tensioner from the the turbo as its has a round bit on the end where's the tensioner fron the 2.2 has the flat head so does this mean the car would have had a new timing chain at some time as it does sound very nice I was going to get the chain done as I am going tobe keeping the car for some time but am I wasting money what do you guys think thanks for reading all the bes.

Chances are its been done, although i think vauxhall started using the z20net tentioner on thr 2.2 after a cdrtain year, not entirely sure though. If it isn't rattling, then leave it alone :-)

Did you remove the cam chain cover then to have a look at the tensioner?

Hi no if you look down the back of the engine on the chain side you can see we're the tensioner goes in & the head sticks out the 2.2 has a flat head & the 2.0 has the one with the blob bit on the end of it if you have the 2.2 direct have a look I hope you understand

2008 or thereabouts, IIRC. As the OPs car is a 2005, it wouldn't have the modified tensioner fitted unless the chain has been recently replaced as chain kits now have the modified 2.0 tensioner.

Yep, no point worrying until the chain starts rattling.
