    Default SAAB and Vectra's

    Hi All,

I'm still on the lookout for a working 'Shark Fin' Aerial for my Vectra, when I noticed this ..... on a SAAB 95

Is the SAAB 9-5 just a Vectra anyway ?? or is it the SAAB 9-3, cant remember..

Anyway, could I use this style of 'Fin Aerial' on my VXRD... and would the Sat Nav still work....

    Any ideas ??

EDIT: Noticed the same aerial on the SAAB 9-3 Convertible

    Just answered my own question...

Genuine Saab roof-mount shark-fin telephone antenna for reception of GSM 900 and GSM 1800 MHz telephone systems, features:

Telephone antenna for reception of 900/1800MHz dualband
    Benefits:
To be fitted in the designated position on the car roof
    No holes to be drilled

Which is why there is a normal aerial on the convertible as well !!...

Shame, as this would have looked better than the stick that I have at the moment..

My next door neigbour has a 9-3 convertible and I couldn't understand why it had 2 aerials until I asked.

The one on the boot is there for when the roof closes and opens!!!! to stop it slipping back. It is an aerial but not wired in, which is why it has 2, bizarre.

I saw one on a range rover last week, looked nice and I want one but it has to do digital.

I heard once that most of the shark fin ariels on BMW's and such like are for the satnav or telephone etc, and that the ariel for the radio is incorporated in the rear window? Don't know if this is true or not.

Same as Ren- no's as well - shark fin for the sat nav and radio in the side rear window. At least it was on mine - had to be replaced twice!!

    That is true; same on the Saab (and that is why the convertable has a second classic aeriel);
our Vec B has the same: the small antenna on the roof is only for GSM-car kit

fm/am antenna is integrated in the rear window; shark fin is not standard and only for GSM and/or GPS... however you can order it without GSM/GPS (what most people do)

(sorry but a new Saab 9.3 Arc 1.8T I ordered earlier this year just arrived at work )

It will have GSM fitted FME connector hiding in the centre console at floor level , the loom is behind the govebox for audio transfer as well ,
