    Eek Excessively Rusty

    Hi there guys, n gals.

Newbie here with a few questions regarding Signums ..( and Vec- Cs )
I recently viewed a 2004 Signum 2.2 which i fell in love with, and was about to buy until i saw the MOT advisories.

Rusty brake pipes wouldnt normally bother me, but it set me on a more detailed examination and I noticed that most of the front suspension was close to disintegrating with rust, and that also extended to the rear suspension car as well.
I have currently got a 2002 Vauxhall Omega which is as solid as a rock, and i am seriously dissapointed with the rust on the Signum, and wondering now if the newer Signums, and/or Vectras have a propensity for Terminal rust.
I am hoping that the car i viewed was a one-off Seaside Signum, and that i dont have to check the whole underside of every Veccy, or Sig that i look at.

    All input gratefully appreciated.

Touch wood my 52 plate Vectra C is clean. I haven't heard of a massive rust issue with the C's or Signum's.

Sounds pretty standard mate. 8 years old, good excuse for new suspension and brakes etc

The Vectra C is well known for excessive rust on the wear and tear on the springs, especially the rears
I have never had any other car with this, and I suspect it was down to two consecutive winters with excessive road salt, poor component design (as the rear springs are not shielded), or inferior parts

Possibly that its an unloved garaged car too. Last few winter have been pretty bad, and if its not had the arches washed out and just put away in a poorly ventilated damp garage all that salt wouldn't be long in taking its toll.
