    confused Cruise Control not there?

New to the site and now I have three fresh queries, two which may be linked...
I fitted some second hand fogs and surrounds to 05 Vec CDTi, with front loom already in car, fitted new light switch plate blah blah blah...I now find that the cruise control no longer works...neither do the fogs coz they've not been tech'd yet..
    any clues peeps ?...

The cruise could be your clutch spring, they are touchy, or you may have pulled a wire out when faffing around with the light switch ? My moneys on the clutch spring though ..

Have to agree with Bainie.. it's sooo well known, i'd lay good money on your's failing..either change the spring or build up the lenght of the plunger so it's in contact with the pedal when the clutch isn't being pushed..

You don`t drive with your foot on the clutch do you, I thought mine had stopped working then realised I was touching the clutch and it was enough to stop it engaging ? Maybe it was just having an off day like Vectra C`s like to do !!

Well the non working thingie happened to her indoors when she was driving down to Brighton on weds morning....obviously she blamed me for bogging about with her pride and joy....
I was very diplomatic and asked her the same thing in an unpatronising way...
She stated that she ensured that she kept away from both clutch and brake pedals when the failure occurred...

Just a Vec C off day I presume...the other day the power steering warning symbol flagged up...I turned off the ignition..waited and turned it back on...all has been fine and dandy since..

I love these vec c jobbies...

it's actually easier to lenghten the plunger on the switch.. if you want to do the spring, then you've got to disassemble the pedal box....

i've successfully lenghten several plungers now with chemical metal.. just add enough to the button on the end of the clutch switch to let it work the switch when the pedal isn't pushed, normally about 4mm..

my cruise control stopped workin when my clutch pedal return spring snapped. i took it to vauxhall who told me the springs have been upgraded to a different type and replaced it under warrenty. now the cruise control works fine.

ure clutch pedal spring mite ave lost a bit of its spring! and therefore a bit soft around the switch.
