Default Autobox Fluid Change - AF40

    Morning guys,

I'm going to be doing the annual service on my Vectra this weekend, and would like to know whether it would be worth doing the autobox fluid while I am at it?

The car is at 45k and sometimes the gearbox can be a bit harsh on the up change. Is a slight crunch when going into reverse normal or something to be concerned about?

Any advice would be welcome... I am aware these things can be expensive if they go wrong!

On a side note, I do have the Haynes however is there any places which I should pay special attention to when I am inspecting the underside of the car? Anything specific to the Vec's which can be a bit of a problem spot? It's a 2008 Vec C 1.9CDTi 150.

    Thanks all

In relation to the ATF - yes abolutely 100% change it, and change it every 2 years if you only drain what is in the pan.

If you don't there is a very high risk that the autobox will fail very early.

    Thanks Dae

I don't have the equipment or the confidence to do a full change so I will drop what I can and then add and then repeat again after a short drive to change a reasonable amount. Out of interest how much would a decent autobox specialist charge to do this, or a Volvo/Vauxhall etc garage? If it's not too much I would get it flushed through properly for my own peace of mind.

    Cheers!
