    Default Swirl flaps

I did the £1 fix on my swirl bar, as it was worn and had come off completely. Unfortunately this hasn't lasted 500miles and it's come off again. I've got a problem with no low end power and then a load of smoke when the turbo spools, would this be related to the flaps?

Ive been quoted £500 to replace the inlet manifold. But being told about bonding the flaps open I'm now curious to know what the pros and cons of doing this are, I'm assuming they're there to open an close for a reason so sticking them in one position makes me wonder if I'm just gonna create another problem?!

They only close on low end & idle to aid a cleaner burn when the egr is in operation for the emissions, if i was to replace my manifold, i would modify the manifold by removing the swirl operation altogether before fitting.

My egr is blanked off completely so it does render those flaps useless!

My swirl rod is up my loft (ooh err), the swirl pots (1,2,and 4) on the car are super-glued open and the EGR electrically disconnected. The car runs faultless throughout the rev range and still returns 50 MPG consistently. I would certainly give it a go, nothing to lose!!
