Default ebay advice , think someone is trying it on , need advice ...

Basically I had a message earlier asking me how soon I could post an item , I said within the hour .
They paid and I went to the post office only to return to a message asking for a refund as they had made a mistake and did not have enough money to live on .........
Anyway long story short I did'nt actually post the item as my mrs warned me not to as she got the message .
However The message was sent an hour and half after the time they thought I had posted .
So what do I do ............. I smell scam a mile off .

refund, get your fees back and block them, its a damm cheak of them to do that to you, however good job it happened this way, then a item not recived claim against you etc, just block them and move on mate.

The scam is... you send the item and come home to the message saying 'woe is me, I can't afford it, please don't send it...' but alas it's already in the post. They then say, ok as soon as it arrives I'll send it straight back. When you then don't receive the returned item, they claim to have posted it but didn't keep any proof... it must be lost. As you didn't send it, you cannot claim against Royal Mail (or whoever). You have to go inot the Ebay claims procedure but there will be insuffucient funds in the buyers account for you to get much (if anything) back. Ebay will attempt to claim back what they can but won't get very far as there will be no contact from the address the buyer gave.

Many years ago it happened to me - luckily not for a huge amount - hence now I limit my dealings rather a lot on there.

Sounds dodgy as a £6 note! Only thing you can do is scan the feedback scores as a buyer. As a seller you have even less leverage, except to refuse bids from under (X) amount of feedback....

Well I messaged them and called their bluff saying I had posted , they replied saying sorry and it was his own silly fault , and apologised .
He is happy to have it , so I'm just covering my back and sending recorded delivery tomorrow .....
