Default My dad's vectra, a birthday treat for him!

Recently it was my dad's birthday and I had the great old dilemma of what to get him! He's helped a lot with mine and my girlfriends bungalow over the last couple of years so I decided to help him out with his vectra, the poor thing was in dia need of a detail and my dad's vectra is missing a few things my SRi has so I set about adding them!

First up is rear parking sensors, now my SRi doesn't have them yet but it will, really easy mod however I did take my time to do a good job of it, also done the rear fog mod at the same time as I was already using the wires going to the nearside cluster. The sensors were colour coded prior to fitting and fitted in the factory positions:

Next job was to fit the rear interior light, again fairly easy, I had already made a simple 3 wire loom with a connector trimmed down from a PC power pack, re-pinned it and it fits perfectly into the light connector, soldered this to the front interior light following the how to, and yes I did fit the grab handle upside down!

Now the next job was probably my favourite of this !3 day! adventure, activating full BC/Trip functions and check control, he has a CDC40 with GID fitted as standard but it only had the timer function. After activating the BC and check control the washer fluid warning popped up so time to fit the sensor, I had already made up the simple 2 wire loom however this vectra had the plug and wires in place already! Only problem was the plug was badly corroded so I simply replaced it with a better contidion one, I fitted the sensor using a 21mm hole saw from the rear parking sensors, it was a perfect fit however I decided to use a little silicone as I didn't to take any chances with leaks. I also cleaned the filter while the bottle was out, it was all gunged up!

While the bonnet was up I replaced the poor headlight bulbs with some night breakers, got to be a little better right?!

And finally a decent detail inside and out. The paint was in a bad way and although I couldn't get it as good as I would of liked it was a big improvement! So a decent wash followed by claying and then cutting/polishing with a few different grades, followed by sealing and finally a thick coat of colly. The glass was cleaned and treated along with the plastics, under the bonnet, in the boot and the alloys & tyres, all in this heat we have had over the last few days!

    And after many many hours!

My dad was very happy with this, he had no idea what was going on lol, and today is going to be a relaxing day, maybe cut the grass and tidy the garage..
