Default What do you want for the Vectra replacement?

Here is my wish list for the next Vectra or Insignia or whatever the will call it.
    ____________________________

    THE NAME.

Insignia is a poor choice of name for a car.

If Vauxhall carry on with this name, I suppose they will call the base version as the "Shampoo", the middle version will be the "Shower Gel", the top of the range will be "Deodorant" and the sporty version will be the "Aftershave Lotion".

Why not call it the Vauxhall Monza in reference to the Coupé made by Opel from 1978 to 1986?

I think "Monza" is a great name for a car. Not to mention it sounds much better than "Insigniaaaaaaaaa".
    _____________________________

    THE STYLING

Vauxhall proved with the new Astra they can make a family car with styling flair. So my suggestion is, give the Vectra replacement a sleek profile similar to the MB CLS.

    _____________________________

    THE HANDLING

The handling always has been the Vectra Achilles heel IMO. Vauxhall never got the Vectra right in this department.

I suggest Vauxhall to let the boffins at Prodrive use their magic to develop the chassis for the Vectra replacement.

And please...give the Vectra the option of 4WD. The VXR has got to be a hunkered down road rocket to honor the legendary Lotus Carlton.
    _________________________

    THE VERSIONS

I reckon the Vectra range should be limited to only 5 versions.

    -Club
    -Design
    -Elite
    -SRi
    -VXR

The Exclusiv is not that ExclusivE. Not to mention "Exclusiv" sounds silly.
    __________________________

    THE ENGINES

I read recently that most manufacturers would be downsizing their engine sizes and fitting turbos. I suppose it's a case of making engines more efficient and helping to produce lower emmissions.

So here is my engine range (all of them with Direct Injection)

    Petrol

    1.6 16V 4 Cylinders Turbo 160 Bhp

    2.2 16V 4 Cylinders NA 176 Bhp.

    3.6 V6 24V NA 270 Bhp

    3.6 V6 24V Twin-Turbo 360 Bhp

    Diesel

    2.0 16V 4 Cylinders Turbo 150 Bhp

    3.0 V6 24V Twin-Turbo 240 Bhp
    _______________________

    THE ELITE, SRi and VXR

    Elite: 4WD - 3.6 V6 24V 270 Bhp, 3.0 V6 24V Twin-Turbo Diesel 240 Bhp, 6-Speed Automatic.

    SRi: 4WD - 3.6 V6 24V 270 Bhp 6-Speed Manual.

    VXR: 4WD - 3.6 V6 24V Twin-Turbo 360 Bhp 6-Speed Manual.
    ________________________

    THE CLUB and DESIGN

    Club: FWD 1.6 16V Turbo 160 Bhp, 2.0 16V Turbodiesel 150 Bhp, 5-Speed Manual or 6-Speed Automatic.

    Design: FWD - 1.6 16V Turbo 160 Bhp, 2.2 16V 176 Bhp, 2.0 16V Turbodiesel 150 Bhp. 4WD - 3.0 V6 24V Twin-Turbodiesel 240 Bhp. 5-Speed Manual or 6-Speed Automatic.
    __________________________

    I don't think I'm asking too much.

If Mr. Forster really is a "visionary man". He will realize that changing the name, will not be good enough if the car turns out to be another Jack of all Trades and Master of None like the current Vectra, which it is a competent car but not excellent.

No cost saving this time, push it to the limit! Come on Vauxhall you can do it!

I want Vauxhall to kick Ford and VW's ars3 in the midsize family car segment.

By the look of the new mondeo , its going to have to be very good but as its happened over the years the ford will be top of the tree in the handling department ,
they could seriously worry vw though ,
and you need a base diesel lump in your line up as you will loose lots of sales

    and the name ?
    not monza ,

but as you say insignia sounds like BO bash ,

still think ford should have used iosis for the mondeo.....

    Base Diesel Lump?

Ok then. How about a 2.0 8V Turbodiesel 130 Bhp?

Yeah the Ford Mondeo MK4 is looking great.

Here pictured as the 5-Door Hatchback.

The Mondeo used is Casino Royale was a prototype btw.

And this is what the next Vectra or Insignia is supposedly to look like:

Is it that hard for Opel or Vauxhall, both which are part of the world's largest motoring group - General Motors; to design a good looking, fun to drive family car?

*HOW DO I EDIT MY POSTS?*

Not many of you fellow Vectra owners are interested on this thread.

    Anyway...

As for the Estate, give the Vectra Estate replacement a sleek profile like the S6 Avant:

Something along the lines of the Holden Commodore SSV would be nice.

Before we get too carried away on the whole ' lets improve the Vectra thing', There are two serious things that need to happen if Vauxhall are ever to get my business again.

Firstly; Support the cars properly. Understand what you are making and selling to us. Don't fob off problems hoping they'll go away. They won't, customers will.

Secondly; Give the Dealer Network a ferking good kick up the arris. Their shoddy attitudes to paying customers will cost them in a very short time.

Get these things right, most people will overlook one or two minor shortcomings. Throw them together and ignore it when they go wrong, You don't have a future.

It'll need to be damn good then. A couple of my mates have the new Passat, one has the estate, another has the saloon, both are 2.0 TDis. They are in a different league in all respects from the current model Vectra.

IMO "Build Quality" is a term that became alien to Vauxhall at about the same time as the facelift Vectra was introduced.

how about harking back to names like FIRENZA or MAGNUM, because they have named the Holden after an old Opel, and give the name a bit of body. If the Astra can wipe the floor with the Focus and Golf then surely VX can put the same expertise to work on the family sized cars

That pic of the new vectra, looks awfy similar to the Dodge that they are flogging off the same forecourt at my local vx stealers
