    Default GSi Catalytic Converter gaskets?

    Hi

I've a new (standard) catalytic Converter to fit to my 3.2 GSi. Before I stick the thing on axle stands this Sunday, are there gaskets at either end or does it just bolt straight to the bottom of the exhaust manifolds and pre-cats?

    Appreciate your help!

To answer my own question, yes, there are gaskets between the pre-cats and the main cat. The gaskets are metal, I cleaned them up with some P120 paper and re-used them.

Cat was 206 quid delivered from cats2u.co.uk and took about 2 hours to fit with the car on axle stands. Greased the slip joint, it's probably not the correct way to push them together, but it slipped in soooooooo easilly and it'll burn off eventually, and the joint's pretty tight anyway.

As jobs go, not a tricky one, will update if anything falls off or needs re-doing. Car's purring like a kitten now

you should of knocked the insides out of the cat (not the pre cat) before fitting it would release a little more power.
how easy was it to do on axle stands

I know you can remove the cat, but the car's standard and I want to keep it that way. I don't think 200 quid's a lot of money to do so, so quite chuffed!

Wasn't difficult to do at all. Due to doing it on grass, jacking was a pain in the proverbial, so I only managed to get the NS axle stand under and used some large blocks of wood as backup in case it fell off (don't want to become a statistic!). So one axle stand, on the p1ss, still easy.
