Default need some advice, ice related

evening guys, need a little advice on the ICE side of things, im looking at removing the ncdc 2013, and fitting a kenwood double din in its place, figured i dont really the satnav as i dont do as much travelling as i used to. now the questions

1: if i take out the stereo, what will work or not, what will be affected, (trip computer etc)

2: does the stereo have to be divorced and how?

3: what bits will i need, i know i need a facia adaptor to fill in the gaps thanks to vauxhalls great design (cough) and the right iso lead, any suggestions

4: thinking in advance, what speakers and sizes are needed for upgrade, again i know of the adaptor kit to help the new speakers fit thanks to again the awkward shape, but what size speakers are others running? 17cms?

    cheers in adavance
    dave

Hi buddy, answer to number 4.

The vectra woofers are all 6.5in (17cms) and any 6.5 speaker will fit.

However I advise against plastic speaker adapters; they never fit properly and end up cracking. Buy some MDF rings off of eBay

i have a pioneer in mine, range consumption etc all still there, scroll through them using the left scroll wheel on the sterring wheel

dont bother changing the speakers for now, the HU is the weak link, the std door speakers are susprisingly good but yes they are 17s

you only need to divorce the stereo if you plan to sell it, jsut store it away somewhere in case you sell the car? thats what i did.

i am assuming that as you have a ncdc 2013your car is Half CanBus (three buttons on the wheel) and not Full CanBus (two buttons and scroll wheels).

Depending which type you car is affects the answers...

Based on the car being Half CanBus....

1: if i take out the stereo, what will work or not, what will be affected, (trip computer etc)
A: If you by a BC (Board Computer) stalk and have it activated (Using Tech2 etc) you should be able to access most of the trip functions etc as you have right now.

2: does the stereo have to be divorced and how?
A: No. The radio has it's own security code which moves with the unit. Only full can bus CD30 etc models need to be divorced.

3: what bits will i need, i know i need a facia adaptor to fill in the gaps thanks to vauxhalls great design (cough) and the right iso lead, any suggestions
A: You will need a facia adaptor, ISO stearing wheel leads, Aireal adaptor and a patch lead for your head unit. I would recomend connect2 leads as I have found them to be the best. Companies like dynamic sounds are realy good and will talk you through everything. Expect to spend £50.00 for all this top quality kit etc...

4: thinking in advance, what speakers and sizes are needed for upgrade, again i know of the adaptor kit to help the new speakers fit thanks to again the awkward shape, but what size speakers are others running? 17cms?
A: Already answered... Fit MDF rings and consider dynomatting behind the speakers on the door skin to prevent vibration.

If it's Full CanBus is different but as I said I think you will find your car is half canbus based on the current headunit you have.

    Hope this all helps

yes mines the half canbus system, and i have a stalk on the right hand side of the steering column that used to control the h/u, but since fitting the ncdc 2013, didnt work, so im guessing that will change back to working once the h/u is out...

i have sourced the iso leads needed, but mdf rings? cant find them in the right shape or do they need to be adapted?

i was going to sell it, no need for two steroes and the cars going to be with me a long time (hopefully) as for 17's, got my eye on a few, but im stuck on the mdf speaker thing?
