    Default Vx Servicing Deal...

Was sorting through the Christmas post tonight, and there was a letter from Vauxhall in there (I bought my Vectra new (private purchase) about 6 weeks ago).

Anyhow, they were trying to flog me a servicing deal - basically everything except tyres & exhaust, 3 year deals, for £540 (60,000 miles), £720 (80,000 miles) or £900 (100,000 miles). Included MOT insurance (i.e. if it fails, the repairs are covered). Basically, all routine servicing (including timing belt, brake pads, wiper blades).

Is this good value? What does anyone pay for servicing (the standard guarantee will pay for other failures anyhow, won't it??).

When is the timing belt due on the 1.9 CDTI 150 anyhow?

well, if it's good value or not is up to you..but i can tell you VX say the belt wants changing at 100,000 miles..

as for what i pay for servicing...parts only, and i do it under the EU's block exemption rules..

If I buy this deal, if it snaps before that (which I reckon it would) I'm covered tho' - cheap engine.

Who in their right mind wouldn't change the belt way before 100k?

well i can tell you now, that to get another engine out of VX is flippin hard...and they will try to wriggle out of it..

and No, VX won't change the belt before it's at the recommended interval.. if you want it done sooner you'd have to pay.....even though we all know it's suicide to let a belt go that long..

    Sounds like a good deal.
However, consider how long you will be keeping the car, you dont want to pay for a 3 year cover if you want to change the car in 1 or 2 years time.
