Default Possible EGR valve on 2.2???

    Hi guys,

Today I took what I thought was my EGR valve off my Vectra 2.2direct to see if it needed a good clean out and possibly make the emission light go out.

As I was unbolting it coolant started leaking out. Could someone please confirm if this actually is an EGR valve??? If it is, should the coolant of leaked out?? But if its not, then what is it???

Hopefully my attached photos have worked, I have took some of the piece I took off, where I took it off from and also how much coolant is left. I must note that there was a piece of thin metal in between the engine and this EGR??? that I did not photograph. Any words of wisdom gratefully appreciated!!016.JPG017.JPG018.JPG019.JPG020.JPG021.JPG

The EGR on the 2.2 is water cooled so when you took it off the water leaked from the cooling channels in the castings. If you put it back on correctly it should seal up water tight again.

Received your pm mate and as the guys have said that's perfectly normal as the egr is water cooled. If your egr is working fine then there's a cheap and easy way of blanking it if you wish with no side affects and no mot problems either.
