Red Diesel is identical to normal diesel, except for it contains a red dye. Red diesel alone shouldnt make any difference.
Wish him luck if HMRC or Vosa stop him and dip his tank, The red stains the tank long term.

lets be hones tho, what are the chances of getting caught.

unless red diesel somehow looks different when its coming out the tailpipes, noone would suspect him and then check the car surely.

dont get me wrong, I am in no way condoning what he did just being realistic

    Default

all he has to do is have his mechanic or diy it, remove the feed pipe to the filter and use some hose to extend it to the barrel he's used to fill it.

then switch on the ignition, the elec pump will run for a short while, then switch off and repeat. he might need a booster pack tho if his battery isnt to strong

and I ecco the comment on there possibly being water in the deisel.

It's not a case of getting cought but if you are cought - hefty fine I believe at the least. Better just to pay the stupid duty on fuel that way you have a (possible) claim if it causes bad running/damage due contamination.
