Default Can limp home mode correct itsself? 3.0 turbo diesel

    Hi all,
I was towing a caravan yesterday and the power went. It seemed like the brakes on the caravan came on but I had a similar problem when the turbo inlet came off last year (simple fix).
Yesterday I pulled into a service station, checked under the bonnet - nothing loose, caravan brakes seemed OK and I don't remember seeing any warning lights at any time.
Stressed out, had a coffee, came back and the car and caravan rolled down a slow incline with no power, so not a brake problem. Pulled back onto the M6 and drove another 150+ miles with caravan and no problem anfd what appeared to be full power.
So question is, did I get into limp home mode which then reset itself after the engine cooled ? Not sure whether to take it to a garage as nothing is wrong at the moment but I'd hate to have it keep happening.
(I might have had a similar problem early last year but put it down to the safety brake cable on the caravan, so maybe it does recur)
has this happened to anyone at all ?

You would only get a limp home if the eml was showing on the dash

So any ideas as to why the power dropped and I couldn't get over 50 m.p.h. and then it sorted itself ?

If the fault was intermittent, then it have cleared when you turned off/on the car. Could be something as simple as needing to clean the boost sensor or something..?

The symptoms you describe are very similar to the early stages of a blocked SCV
It is the season for this!

Look at the front and back of the caravan, see if there are signs of black smoke having been ejected from the back of the exhaust

I have had limp mode sometimes without any warnings having been triggered on the dash. You sure know when you are in limp mode, the car is dangerous when it comes to pulling out onto a busy roundabout. So, in my experienec anyway, his car could have went into limp mode and not triggered a warning light.
