Default jerky acceleration on VXR (Z28net) low revs

    Hi there,

    Hope someone can assist.

I recently purchased a 2007 VXR - with one (major) quirk...

When running in 5th gear at around 2000rpm - and you push the accelerator, it jerks and looses a bit of power in s jerky motion. When running at higher revs it's fine, but at low revs and high gear (4-5-6) it seems to loose power short.

I've just had new sparkplugs fitted, which didn't solve it.

My mechanic then took his bosch tester, and suggested we went for a drive and then test each ignition coil to see if there were any erros (which he suspected from the beginning)

But - it wouldn't let him read any data at this level, only "silly" things like idle speed, air inlet temp etc.

Anyone here have any ideas? Rather than changing ignition coil one at a time, is there a smart way of testing it electronically? What do they do at the dealers - and what do you do ? :-)

    thanks!

    -Mads

Sounds like one of the coil packs. Dealership diagnostics machines can access things like this no problems to narrow it down to whichever cylinder it is.

Yeah think so mate, its far more advanced and reliable than alternatives. Not many places have it due to the cost of it, smaller garages go for snap on etc which often cant access certain parts of the car.
