    Default Swirl Actuator Update......

After a week and about 200 miles of mixed driving the issue of Limp Mode and the P1109 Actuator fault has gone away after the new one was fitted!! Thank the Lord! Its running far smoother and is a lot more economical and punchy at low revs now too

How much did you pay for the actuator? I had the fault last week after pinning my bar back on but today glued the pots open

It was done as good will by the trader - but the part is around £110 but its the fitting that costs..... think its about 3 hours or so as its pretty fiddly to fit.

If my swirl actuator went, I would pay for a new one but would simply look at a way of electrically connecting it i.e. not fit in proper situ. I would do this to fool the ECU into thinking the swirl valves were working. I would then glue swirl pot 3 in the open position. Total cost would be £110 and a car performing very well indeed.

As above & in addition, if the manifold became so bad it could only be replaced, i would remove all the swirl valve operation completely & have it all welded up as Harvey Smith did, i believe he's running around 250bhp with no bother... my motor with the pots 1, 2 & 4 bonded in the fully open position is according to BC running 39.4mpg 100% town driving with a heavy right foot
