Default went to look at a new vec today! anyone got a 1.8vvt?

went to look at a vec c estate today at vx stealers,

1.8 vvt estate with colour sat nav, black, 10,999 with 9k on the clock, 06 plate

got offered 4,700 part ex but said mine was worth 6k private (53 plate 2.2 sri, 46k on the clock)

does all that sound about right to you guys?

Also, the car supermarkets sell the same cars for 10,000, so am tempted to purchase from there if i am going to sell mine private

ideally i wanted the 1.9 cdti sri but the budget aint gonna stretch that far.

I had a vvt hatch while my vectra was in having stright panels and cr@p paintjob , not the quickest thing on earth and if you want to get a move on you have to keepit at the top of the rev range and it was noisey, my diesel was like a rocketship when i got it back . hate to think how sluggish it would be in an estate !

i dont need power with this car really, goin for the 1.8 as its solely for my nippers (identical twins 15 months old!) so need space over performance.

Cheers, that was the exact same car supermarket i checked when we got back!!

how much cheaper are we talking for diesel please caterman??

I've been doing a bit of window shopping as well. Given that the price differential between a 1.8VVT and a 1.9CDTi is only ~£1500 new, I'm quite surprised at the ~£2500 premium only six months later. Supply and demand I guess.

BTW, if a hatch would do, you can get a brand new 1.8 exclusiv for £10495 and a pre-reg 56 plate with delivery mileage for £9495.

Go for the diesel...I had a VVt as a courtesy car, and it was a little grim to so the least...really gutless under about 3000 rpm, then when you did get it moving over 3000 rpm the fuel consumption is the same as my GSi... if it were my money i'd step back another 6 months or more and get the better engined car rather than get a 'new' 1800.. the diesel would be the same price but a much better buy..

thinking the same about the difference in price between new and 6m old with the diesel vs petrol.

guess it does go to show the difference between the two models.....

got a sri hatch now so its the estate i need purely for space.

cheers Mark - i didnt expect the 1.8 to shift but at the same time didnt expect it to be that bad either.....

it's only poor on fuel when you wind it up, but unfortunatly thats more often than i liked.. in mean, i went up the M1 in 4th as 5th was as flat as a pancake.. my bro has the 'old' 1800 and thats a king to the new one..even took Payney out in it and he said his was quicker.. so i consider the 1800 vvt a step backward.. if you buy it and hate it you'll be stuck with it as the residuals will be pap... thats why it's cheaper to start with..

I'd hold out for the car you really want even if it is a couple of 'plates' older..

Bought my 3.0 V6 very cheap from them and had no problems at all with them.
