    Default Query..cat gone awol?..2t.03 plate

Suddenly whilst driving I had a warning ign light up on the dash yesterday. Car with a spanner through it..hmmm,quick look in the owners manual suggests cat issues.

When you lift the bonnet you can hear the sound of tinkling, like if you were to smash a bag of christmas baubles.

Light does go off,and stays off after a restart but comes on again later. Just been out and as the car heated up the light came on..what dya reckon?

Not sure on 2.0t where the turbo is but if you can get to it, take off the outlet hose, CAREFULLY run your finger round the opening to see if there is any filings mixed in with the oil residue. it'll probably be a easy elimination

I took the inlet(?) pipe off yesterday when I was replacing the vacum line from turbo to front of car(what I thought was original problem) yesterday. This was after the fault/light appeared. Nothing present, noil,no fillings..nothing. I tried to emulate Ed China's technique and attempted to see if I could move the turbo veins/fan laterally. No movement sideways at all and smooth operation under finger pressure.

When out this morning the car pulled very smoothly and when the turbo kicked in it took off like a good un.

The cat sits below the turbo and when it stops raining I'll go have a look see if i can easily access the outlet hose and check.Fingers crossed.

In the how2 section there is a guide that shows you how to read the codes using the pedal method. I can't link you to it as I am using my phone while pushing a trolley around tesco.

The cat is in the downpipe and not accessible for inspection unless you remove it completely.

Thanks..already found it. Attempted the test twice...no flashing lights at all. Went out in the car,no warning lights. Retried test and again no flashing lights. I assume this means no faults?..btw the 'discussion' link i the how to post is invalid.

The cat is a 'manicat' I believe...

Ahh the joys of domestic blish...im jealous
