I wouldn't use it in a newer diesel. Older cars like escort diesels are ok but wouldn't use unless using a 50:50 mix , stinks plus mpg aint as good. Can't see the point personally.

    Don't put it in vec.

I too used to use vegetable based fat and oil in my previous Rover (PSA group diesel engine)

As above, do NOT use this in a common rail diesel
The engine won't like it and eventually you can kiss the fuel pump goodbye

erm, it's 38p/l at morrisons. You'd have to get pretty bad mpg for it not to work out cost effective on your old smoker. Don't get me wrong you're not going to break any land speed records but if it's for the wife's car.....

Customs and excise were parked outside Asda in Derby the other day randomly pulling cars over and dip testing private cars tanks - an Asda employee said they had someone in the store looking for customers buying large amounts of cooking oil that was on offer !! Sneaky or what

surely that's not illegal is it? it's hardly evading duty, just using alternative energy. That's what they want us to do! They've just realized they don't get as much tax from us if we do it that way. Idiots.

    Agreed!

Don't forget guys with the "green drive," the government is on this isn't about tax, it's all about ensuring we are more environmentally friendly and that we save the planet.......nothing to do with grabbing more money from us what so ever!.................Oh wait a second!

It's quite common to have Customs & Excise parked near to a petrol station exit
It is then easier to compare the expected results against an unusual result

There is nothing wrong in using other fuel sources
Customs & Excise may try to enforce duty evasion, but it depends on the vehicle and usage
If the vehicle is clearly being used for business purposes then enforcement is more common, all other vehicles will be given a notice and leaflet advising how to make a fuel duty payment (if the limits are reached)
