    Default Possible ECU problem

    Hi guys, need some help please.
    I have a 56 plate Sri Vectra 2.2 Direct petrol. It broke down last week whilst on holiday when the "spanner in the car" came on and it suffered loss of power and wouldnt rev above 3500 rpm. The recovery agent said it was the air flow / mass sensor that was the problem. He cleared the fault and i was on my way. As a precaution i had it to the local garage where they replaced the part. It then flagged up a problem with the crank and cam sensors. These were also replaced but it still wouldnt rev. After a week in the garage, they decided that it might be the ECU and a replacement was £1500 - £1800. The swirl flaps were also mentioned. Needless to say i had to come home via AA recovery.
    Having spoken to a few people i am now at a loss as to which direction to go next. I have been given the following advice;
    Disconnect battery for a minimum 12 hrs then re connect and the ECU might re boot.
    Buy a second hand ECU from Ebay.
    Send my original to a "specialist" and get it repaired, or send it to Vauxhall and get ripped off.
    has anyone had a similar problem and could help or offer me some advice.

    Thanks.

    Thanks for that "Critch", had it to the garage and they say its the swirl flaps. They have a mod they can fit and they "reset" the ECU as a matter of course.
    £525 for the original diagnosis, parts, labour + re-set but at least the car is mobile again and fingers crossed, no problems.. Cheers..

    Sounds like the mod is clean the inlet an weld them open lol

    Seriosly I'm not sure they would want to "reset" an ecu as matter of course :/

    Hope it sorted at least
