    Default Z22SE issues

    Hi Guys,

I know this issue may have been covered in a previous thread but I cant find excactly what im looking for so I hope that by starting this one I may get some better advice. Here goes:

Ok, recently i have had issues with the engine idle dropping from 750 to 500 rising to 1000 then back to 750 again, this process repeats over and over without ever settling.

In relation to the idle issue, there was a juddering that occurred during low rev gear changes or power inputs very annoying.

I have had a diagnostics check carried out with the following codes:

    P0102
    P0171
    P0404
    P0405

As a result I have since had the car serviced and a few component changes:

    Oil and Filter Change
    New Plugs
    New Air filter

    EGR Valve (new)
    Rear 02 Senser (new)
    Mass Air Flow Meter (new)

The codes were cleared but the problem still exsisted.

Yesterday I fitted a new exhaust system (Scorpion Exhaust with Twin Back Box conversion, during this process i decided to remove the Throttle Body and and related hoses to clean them, after doing so and to my delight the original problem amazingly cleared, however

Since doing so i have noticed the idling problem has returned with an added problem, whilst carrying out gear changes and pulling up to lights for example the engine rises to 2000rpm sits there for 20 seconds or so then returns to 750/500/1000/750 etc

really annoying problem just when i thought i had cracked it

The engine model is Z22SE non-direct and has 96'000 miles

    Any ideas ?

Basically it is able to view short an long term fuel trims? O2 sensor switching maf rate.

    Do you have a multimeter?

As a start at basic due due to the codes

Check for a in take leak after the maf check crankcase breathers are ok.

Think a live diagnostics reading will do a world of good as theirs so many possibilities.

    Was the maf genuine?

Simple basic checks tha may or may not help with multimeter

    Maf voltage
    coolant temp voltage
    front O2 voltage

    Check plug gaps are ok

An double/ trible check for induction leaks

    Default

It was a genuine MAF meter (identical in every way to the old one)

Brand new spark plugs were fitted during last servicing so im assuming they are ok, there is defo no leaks from any induction hoses.

Whats the best way to check the voltages from those connectors ? Im mechanical by trade so i dont have a clue about white mans magic, i can get a multi-meter but just need to know what pins to check on said connectors

I use wig pins in work.

But a paper clip straightened out does same job.

Not sure of top of my head what colours are. I can look later on mine and see if it helps.

Should have a ground a 5v reference and then the voltage reading from what maf is sensing.
