You allow your five year old to sit in the front?? Seriously?? Fair enough, your child I guess.
Not something I'd recommend (or do), my two are eight and nine and have never been in the front of a moving car and won't until they're a fair bit bigger yet.

She's forward facing obviously so just slide the seat backwards so she's nowhere near the airbag.
My 4 year old always sits up front with me, as long as they're nowhere near the airbag what's the problem?
Up to you guys as I said, it's your kids lives at stake. There's a million and one sites out there detailing why it's safer for kids in the back, so much so that in many american states it's actually a legal requirement up til the age of 12 or reaching a certain height.
However, no such law exists in this country and it's your own choice and I'm certainly not going to judge you on it. All I know is that my kids will never sit in the front of a car until that sort of age or height.
Have a quick google round for yourself, first one I came across on a reputable website, statistically rear seats are up to 35 percent safer than front for children, personally I'll take that extra 35% for my kids
