Default Air con blowing out warm air

My 2007 vectra air con is blowing out warm air. Will a re gas sort it out or is it likely to be more than that?

    Impossible to say really.
Did it suddenly stop working or has it just faded over time?
At tickover do the revs drop slightly when you switch on the AC ?

Could be a leak from hoses, a failed compressor or a stone damaged condenser, (the radiator like thing that sits in front of the main radiator.)

Or it could, as you say, just need a re-gas.

There are several threads on the subject on this forum.

Do you use it regularly, or only when the sun comes out?

Sorry if you already know this but AC is for all year round use, not just for hot days. The rubber seals can leak if not used regularly and the refrigerant can leak out.

It also makes for an excellent demister in winter when used in conjunction with the heater.

I honestly never knew it was all year round use. I would just use it when it's warm. And I got it back in November so never really needed it till recently. Although I know it did work when I got it. Just doesn't now.

Just have to take it to experts then.

    Thanks

Take to a decent place and tell them. Get them to gas with a dye which if it leaks shows where the problem is. Usually £40-50 If I remember right. Independents that specialise prob best. Lots of garages bought the kits because it's easy to recharge and make a few quid. But not many that understand fully. You can even buy a regas kit but id say go garage.

If they do it correctly it will be vacuumed out first. If the system doesn't hold a vacuum then they need to dye it etc.

Go to Kwik Fit mate. Got mine done a couple of weeks ago as the wife never has it turned on and when I went to use it only hot air was blown out. Took it to Kwik Fit, they vac'd it down and regassed it and pressure tested it. It was empty as they hardly recovered anything. It held the new charge but when he tested it it was still blowing hot air out so they never charged me. Driving off I decided to check again and noticed he hadn't turned it on via the computer. I turned it on and hey presto, penguin temperature.
They charge £49.99 for a recharge and if it doesn't work it's free. Other places will be cheaper but you will still pay even if it doesn't work.

My air con wasn't working so I took it to a garage this morning, there was very little refrigerant in the system so what was remaining was emptied and fresh put in. But still my air con doesn't work, the compressor isn't kicking in, I've checked all the fuses and everything seems ok but you mention turning it on with a computer how do I do this?

    Only applicable with climate control.

With bog standard AC, you just press the snowflake button to turn on/off, but with climate you need to turn off ECO mode in the climate menu for the AC to start working.
