I cleaned my egr valve and the boost sensor the other on my vectra 1.9 120. The power has returned but now I'm getting black smokey exhaust when going over 3000 rpm and sometime getting bunny hopping, can anyone help ?

Probably just the disturbed carbon and carb cleaner burning off...
this is something I thought it might be, so if I kept it at 2000-3000 rpms and burn the rest out would this help ?Originally Posted by Chunklamb
I've just mine today, I used a whole can of carb cleaner on mine, had a bit of lumpy idle or when held at revs... all back to normal after a 10 minute drive or so.
the italian tuneup is you friend mate, get it nice and warm and take it for an arseing, will soon clear itself through, if it doesnt then there is an issue but that isnt really likely
Took it for drive on motorway not so black as more grey smoke when in high gear below 3000 rpms, I did try to boot the arse out it to burn any soot that I missed.
does it mifire when its doing it ?
No not at all, was running at normal apart from the smokey exhaust
Don't think you have but you aint got a dpf by any chance on it?? (I had bother with mine)
Even if you don't prob as others say crap caught in the system inc cat & exhaust.
Put a cat cleaner in the tank when fuel low and will help clean up. If you had a large amount of oil/soot in will be clagging up the system and needs bit extra help.
well if i was a major problem you would feel it and it would miss, i could even be residue of the cleaner, etc or even oil washed into the exhaust, drive it for a bit and see if it improves
