Default Should I Have A Spanner Light aswell as an Engine Light on My Signum?

    Hi All,

Wheni turn my car to ignition i get alot of lights showing up, traction control, ABS, handbrake warning, glow plugs, and the engine light, but theres no spanner light.

I see this is an important lamp, and i'm asking if my model has one (as the manual is a bit generic, covering all Signums or all trim specs and engines) or should it just have the engine light.

I guess if it should have one, and i haven't, i've either got a blown bulb (unlikely) or a dodgy seller has removed it (Likely)

    Its a 2004 Signum Elite 1.9CDTI 150, prefacelift

    Thanks

    Matt

You Only get the light on display at start up if the ECU thinks something wrong cold. Depends on the software level lots of faults are not on the software so it doesn't know what to do with them bar possibly a light at start up. For example early ones wernt listed with maf and dpf faults so it says no fault or a generic code cos it didn't know. Supposedly vx hav sorted but you would have to buy the update from vx . Get the system checked anyway and see how old software is at worst.

Everytime I change cars I also ring vx customer care and check it hasn't missed any recalls or updates. 2min phone call

No spanner is a good thing

Thanks All, seems i'll not worry too much just yet.

Can a instrument cluster test/dial sweep be completed with the Op-Com tool?

    Thanks

On ignition, all yellow warning lights light up then all except the yellow emissions light go out.

Are you saying i should be seeing the spanner light illuminate, and then go out?

I think there is confusion as to what you mean by spanner light.

The car with a spanner is a fault on the car

The oil can with the spanner is the service light and does not always come on. Only when needed.

Which of these pics shows the light you are talking about ?

Yes, I believe it's part of some sort of diagnostic procedure triggered at ignition. The emissions light (engine symbol) will stay on and should extinguish on starting the engine, all other yellow lights should go out before starting the engine.

The 'car and oilcan' light was dropped on the facelift, it indicates 'service due', on the facelift 'service due' is indicated by 'INSP' in the odometer.
