    Default Lack of power

I've got a 56plate Vectra CDTI 150 Elite, since I've bought the car, it seems to have no low down power, and black smoke when the turbo kicks in, and then it's goes like the wind. Thought it could be the EGR took it off, and it doesn't look that old and the plunger moves freely, put a blanking plate over it as well though (£3.99 off ebay with four holes in to stop the EML coming on), changed the boost pipes to silicon ones. Swirl flaps are fine. No fault codes coming up. Only thing I'm wondering that could be causing an issue is the DMF needs changing (Booked in for next friday). Would that make me lose power bottom end?

Could be throttle body. Try spraying some carb cleaner down it, my help free it up a bit.

Black smoke is unburnt fuel, so either too much fuel, not enough air or fuel at the wrong time.
Still sounds like an EGR. Have you unplugged it? You will get the eml, but just because the EGR is new and not sooted up doesn't mean the electrics to it are working properly. Would have thought the blanking plate would have helped though. Try blanking entirely with a home-made plate too.

You should have tried blanking the EGR completely, by using the one with the holes you still can't rule out the EGR.

Ok, pretty sure it's not EGR related. After doing some investigation found the swirl bar lying on top of the manifold. Did the mod with the washers from B&Q. Took the car out and after 50yrds the EML came on and it went into limp mode, restarted it, flew up the road and the car went like stink, till it went into limp mode again. Bar 1 & 2 seem a little stiff, but judging from how long the bar looked like it had been lying there I put it down to lack of use. Anyway they now don't sit there as tight as they originally did or operate like they initially did. Am I looking at a new inlet manifold or are there any other fixes?
