I know engines are more technical today, but back in the 1970's my mates and I regarded and engine change by the side of the road an afternoon event. Only time we had trouble was when some plank (not me) tied the rope we were using to lift the engine round the chassis. Sure they're not rebuilding it?

3-5 weeks!! I think I'd be looking for another garage, that's just plain ridiculous!!

As already said, I appreciate things are perhaps a bit more technical these days, but I have changed several Vauxhall engines (Cavalier, Astra, Nova etc) and even at a fairly leisurely pace it was easily achievable in a weekend.

    Realisticly 2 days.

A day to get it out and start swapping parts over onto the new engine (Plus fitting a new cambelt or chain) then a day to fit and so the service kit.

And thats from doing it as a job (8 hours a day) lol.
