Default How do I disable one shot front windows

    Hi everyone.

i have a 4 year old son who loves to sit in my vectra (1.9 CDti 12007) without the keys present and chocked in my securred drive and pretend to drive, however, my 13 year old daughter has to be present to ensure he doesnt have an accident with the one shot front electric windows.

Does anyone know how to disable this function to normal i.e. let go and window action stops???

    Thanks

    David

Disconnect the car battery for a couple of minutes.

After that, you will need to re-enable the one-touch windows. Just don't re-enable them

No guarantee as if you hold the up button for a couple of seconds that window is re-enabled, they do have an anti-trap feature though which makes the window go down if their is a smallish resistance, give it a try and see if you think it is to much force

Its a 2007 so will have a CDC Head Unit which don't have codes to add so it won't be a problem but as said the resetting into one shot could be done by his son simply holding the switch in the up position for a couple of seconds so no guarantee the radio code is the the car code and its all done through Tech 2 on the full canbus models

Disconnecting the multi plug in the doors for 20 mins may have the same effect without disconnecting the battery.

I thought that electric windows are primed to automatically stop and lower if they encounter any resistance on their upward journey, to prevent exactly the sort of accident the OP is trying to avoid.

Lets hope for the sake of the neighbours he doesn't find that the horn works without the keys in the ignition.

I take it he's not pulling the steering wheel left and right? Can't be good for the steering system to have all that extra stress placed on it when the PAS isn't running.

Ultimately though as a responsible parent you should be buying him a toy car to be playing with and not the real thing at his age.

Not being funny, but a car is not a playground for children mate, I wouldn't let any children "play" in my car, it's a car not a toy.
