confused Broke my Cherry, First fault code can anyone help?

Well the vectra has finally thrown its first wobbly and gone into safe mode, car with spanner through it.

I have done the pedal test and read the code, it looked like it was 01001, can anyone tell me what this refers to, or have a code reader in the North east that could help?

OK, the EVAP control valve is ontop of the engine, it makes a vaccuum in the fuel tank, so there isnt any fuel vapours escaping.

I have disconnected the pipe and also the wires to it, popped them back on.

And also checked that my fuel cap was on properly, it seemed like it wasnt fully tightened, thereby not allowing a vaccuum to build up?

I have been out an tested the car again, feels like full power has been restored and so far, no warning light!! Fingers crossed.....

Well thats what I counted with the flashing light on the dashboard using the pedal trick? Thats why I had asked if anyone had a code reader in the north, to make sure.

Will see if my faffing has sorted it, unfortunately I am away now for a few days with work so wont be using the car now.

Yep fingers are certainly crossed, just had to buy a new washing machine, dont need any repair bills for the veccy.

Probably needs a squirt of chain lube!

Just tried the suck test on the valve, its air tight and does indeed have some petrol fumes in it....

So, I guess thats as much as I can do at the moment and will report back if anything else happens.
