I bought a Vectra c 1.8i 16v Elegance back in February this year off a garage 'Himley Value Centre' paid £1000 for it. 90,000 miles, 12months MOT, 3 months warranty. Seemed a good price there was slight damage to the rear bumper and front bumper nothing major but the garage stressed the car was a great runner selling cheap due to the slight bumper damage, as usually I would be looking to pay around the £1,300 mark. The was a slight rattle in the engine which they said was the water pump barings, they also said if I bought the car when putting the fresh 12months MOT on they would fix the water pump. Happy with the deal I put my deposit down. The following week I got a call to say your car is ready and passed MOT also water pump fixed. So I collected the car got it home only to realize the rattle in the engine was still there. I phoned Himley garage and they ignored my calls after consistently calling they finally answered, then when I mentioned the water pump they told me to '**** off' they want nothing to do with the car now its my problem. To which I mentioned the 3 month warranty it came with, they said warranty wont cother it anyway and hung up. They now never answer the phone and even when I call off another phone they hang up as soon as they realize its me. Future plan was to see the rest of the week threw at work then pay a visit to the garage direct on the Satday and demand a refund! The next morning driving the car to work it started to smoke from the engine then the coolant all leak out before I could pull over. I had the car recovered and toed home by AA, they diagnosed the problem to be water pump failure causing possible cam belt jump also bearing damage. The AA guy told me, with his knowledge of vectra's I'm looking at around £800 worth of repairs parts and labor. I contacted trading Standards straight away and they have been advising me since. Basically them and me have wrote several letters to Himley and our letters always come back in the post they ignore calls off them to and there email's. There now surgesting I take it to a small claims court but also mentioned doing this I may just be throwing good money after bad and feel I may aswell cut my losses, and face the facts I was coned by a rogue trader. Rogue trader is an under statement, when collecting the car from Himley Value Centre they told me it had 6months Tax and 7 days free insurance later found out the Tax disc was a year out of date and there never was 7 days insurance cover. All so ringing the warenty company they said I was cothered with, they knew nothing of any accounts with Himley. I literally had my pants pulled down by this place. Lesson learnt' to never buy from a used car dealer ever again!!!
So I currently have this car sitting on my drive rotting away! Also being skint I cant afford any major repair cost so I'm currently a bus stop ****** lol. Just really stressed and gutted aswell, clueless what to do now!
Any one ever experienced any thing like this and what did you do? I'm considering selling the car spares & repairs if all else fails.
