Default Slight oil drip after oil & filter change

Did my first oil & filter change today on my 1.9CDTI 120.

Despite having rags to hand and a bit of hose on the drain on the filter housing, oil still p***ed everywhere when I took the old filter out.

Cleaned it up best as I could and put the new filter back in. It went freely at first, but it went semi-tight within a couple of turns, but took a good few minutes of turning by hand (had to give it some effort, mind) and then a nip up with the spanner before I thought it was tight enough.

Now, I've been out for a drive, come back and found 2 or 3 drips of oil on the exhaust pipe which appears to be coming from the drain on the filter housing.

Could this still be old oil dripping out? It doesn't look like new oil. Best to wait a few days and check again?

And should the filter housing have taken that much effort to turn by hand? Should it be easy to turn until it just needs nipping up? Or is that amount of force right? It did take a fair amount of effort (by hand) to get the housing off too.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm starting to doubt my DIY skills now!

A little. The drip looks more like old oil though (very black).

I'll keep an eye on it for a few days.

It could have been dripping out the drain since the change, wouldnt worry bout it, keep an eye on the driveway and check the dippy regularly.

Yes the rubber seal makes the filter housing tight within a couple of turns, very laborious but it sounds normal.
