    Default misfire on 1.8

hi... ive had a slight misfire on my car now for a while, its the 2003 1.8 16v . Today i popped out to the shop, when i got back into the car i could feel the misfire has got alot worst to the point its jumping. I sevice my car every year (all vauxhall parts). A while back i tryed a different coil pack off a pals veccy that is fine, to see if it was the problem, but there was no diff.... BTW sometimes when i go to start the car (HOT or COLD) it just dies then when i start again its fine... can anyone throw any ideas to what could be causing this misfire please.

    Regards Loz

    Hello Mate

I had fairly same symptoms as to what your having but mine was fixed once the spark plugs were changed and a second hand coilpack put in.

I was advised to look at the below items as to the cause before this was repaired.

    Fuel Filter needs replacing
    Fuel pump failing
    MAF Sensor failing/failed
Each Lambda sensors could be failing/failed
Check Alternator. Multimeter across battery terminals should be showing a healthy 14 volts or slightly more

Any chance you can get it onto a code reader to see what comes up?

hi lads... ive just been out and took the MAF off and sprayed some contact cleaner throught and put it back together, started the engine and the revs are slightly higher than they usually are and it seemed ok for about 20 seconds then it started to miss again... could this be the MAF failing? hmm

spark plags, coil pack, cleaned throttle body... (slight change in idle but misfire still there) and used some contact cleaner on the MAF... it seemed ok for about 20 second when i sprayed the MAF but then went bk to the same misfire

need someone who knows what them readings are tbh.
