    Default 2.8 T differences

Looking for some info guys regardsing the 2.8T engines

Is the difference between the 230ps and 250ps engines a simple map or is their more involved??

What size are the brakes on these cars, same as VXR or smaller??

Im swithering about going to look at one tomorrow but i think its the 230ps variant so need to be armed with some info

    cheers guys

The new 270+ version is out now isn't it?

Can't imagine there would be much different as it would cost more to make two different engines. They just stick one in the VXR and the other in the Elite as far as I know but I've only driven a 2.8T once so what do I know.

    Default

The 255PS and 230PS engines are the same with different engine mapping, but the VXR 255PS has 245mm brakes on the front, the IDS is standard on the VXR, so the VXR does have more to help under theskin so to speak.

You also can't buy a 2.8T 230PS Vectra with a Manual gearbox. They are all auto's.

The 280PS engine in the 2007 VXR, has a different airbox assembly, different cams.

But..... the cams are not providing anymore performance, the extra bhp is down to mapping again. The reason the cams were changed is that GM wanted to make one spec of engine for Vauxhall/Opel/Saab/Cadillac etc.

Brings production costs down. So you can upgrade the Signum 2.8T 230 manual to 255PS, but you may struggle with the Auto Vectra, I have heard that TIS/Tech 2 will stop you loading the 255PS map into a 230PS auto, but not had this confirmed.

But Courtenay & VXRPC can re-map all 2.8T engines to circa 300PS.
