    Default Light on dash

Help anyone. Got a new amber light up on the dash. It is a stearing wheel with a exclamation mark in it
Ask local Vauxhall dealer about it and he told me it needs to go on there computer. And cost a weeks wages to do so. Then called local independent expert and was told it needs to go on the computer too. But could be a list of things.

Is there anything it can be or I can try before giving money away just to be told I need to send loads more money
Any ideas will be welcome. Thanks

Well, it's clearly a power steering fault, but you will have to have the fault codes read to find out what. I'd find an independent garage who know Vauxhalls (and hence have the appropriate code reader) to read it. You really shouldn't be paying more than an hour's labour for a garage to read the codes.

Alternatively ask nicely on here and there's bound to be someone local to you who won't mind reading the codes for you.

    Fault with electrical power steering.

No good guessing. It needs the fault code(s) reading out to find out why it's on.

Not sure if the pedal trick will work or not? Info in the how2 section on DIY fault code reading.

Generally the diagnostic check cost is waved if they do the repair.
