    Default Beware when buying wipers..

About 6 months ago I bought some flat blade wipers from eBay. They looked identical to the Bosch ones but at half the price so I guessed I was on to a winner!...

    NOPE!!

Whilst doing 70 along a dual carriageway on Wednesday, I flicked the wipers on to clear a bit of spray and the drivers side wiper went flying off over the roof of the car! When I stopped to check any damage, the blade had broken away leaving just it's clasp in the wiper arm! Luckily it didn't damage anything (on my Veccy or the following Van) but it just shows these parts may look the same but they're certainly not the same quality!

Lesson learned, pair of genuine Bosch ones ordered.

I've used non-genuine ones before with no 'physical' issues, for me they just don't seem to last as long as the Bosch ones, but for a tenner they do a job - not in your case of course, sounds like a dodgy batch maybe

I dont want to burst your bubble on this but Bosch ones are just as likely to disintergrate as the ones from e-bay ,i know it happened to me the day after buying new blades from halfords my new wiper blade disintergrated during a downpour on a motorway .

We could have told you that before you bought them lol. The only decent ones are the bosch aero wipers. Even the GM retro fit ones i found poor leaving areas unswept.

Do you leave your car outside 24/7?

Maybe the clip suffered UV damage and became brittle.

ive never had a car with a good set of wipers so i think im use to any rubbish.
i got cheap flat ones off ebay they are ok better than standard ones, i just have a anoying squeak when it wipes at the top of the window.
but thanks for the heads up will keep a close eye on them to make sure their not going brittle
