    Default Dmf nightmare

hi guys, my car has been in the garage a whole week getting the clutch and DMF done. The guy rang me last night to tell me the gear box has to come out again because the gear selector have fallen into
the gear box and he cant get the it out.he said he has to drop gear box and open it up to retrieve the selector. What my query is did the guy Mess up losing the selector or can this happen sometimes.Im guessing (not being a car mech) that he should have taken precautions to make sure the selector doesnt drop in. he is already talking a days labour after already having the car a week.

Ye cheers mate. I really don't fancy him opening up the gear box. I have a vision of him opening it up and bearing, springs and cogs just flying out all over the place. Lol

He told me 1 day it'll take that was last Wednesday.he quoted me 900 euro all in. He ain't getting anymore money off me that's for sure. I wish I knew a VX car mech. This guy works from a barn beside his house. Needless to say he will never see my car again

Sorry to hear that matey. Barn! I have no trust taking to garages similar to kwik fit, nevermind a guy working at a barn without recommendation.

sorted dmf.the guy took out the gear selector to get to a bolt holding the gear box to the engine.while doing so he hit off some cogs and syncro mesh displacing three little metal pieces.thats why he couldnt get the selector back in properly.the fix was TAKE GEAR BOX OUT open it up and a VX car mech to put these 3 bits back in and also realign the cogs and bolt on selector.
