Fuel Economy

Hi,

I have a 2009 1.8 Vectra Sri and I have managed to get the mpg up to around 36.2. This is a vast improvement to when I bought the car 3 months ago (it was hovering around the 26.0 mark).

I do a fair amount of motorway driving (just done a 300 mile round trip to London) but also work just 10 miles from home (so a fair amount of city driving too).

Is this a fair mpg to be getting from this car? Should I be using Super Unleaded (98 RON) or is the Regular Unleaded (95 RON) more than adequate?

My car has averaged about 36 mpg over the lst 6,000 miles. If you drive at 50-60mph you will get around 45 mpg.

95 Ron would be fine for a 1.8

Heard this bloke moaning in the pub that his car was poor on fuel just him and wife in it, when i looked at them he was a big fat bloke and she was no better, i wanted to say get on a diet it may double in mpg but i just couldn't.!!!

My 2008 1.8 sri is showing 39.2, mixture of roads, just make sure I change up at 2/3000 revs and use as high a gear as pos, not fun but really economical

Been out with mine today up to Berwick--120 miles on the A1,road is single /dual carraigeway and my SrI was giving/showing 40.2 mpg.Speed was ranging from 50-75 mpg so not so bad an MPG i thought----Dave

I've always found mine does around 40 mpg average low 30's around town

On the motorway at 70, I average around 44mpg. Around town about 28mpg.

just done a trip in mines to alton towers,sat about 75-80mph on the way down,and 90-95mph on the way back and achieved 41.19 mpg.
normal nipping about it gets 30odds,but im young and drive a bit quicker and enjoy the car.
