help needed with front parking sensor wiring

hi at the weekend i fitted some front parking sensors which i connected to an ignition controlled live feed from the fusebox,but what i want is for them to turn off when reverse gear is selected and back on in forward gears. i did think about fitting some sort of switch that is only activated in first gear but dont know how to do it. cheers

to get that m8 then you have to go the factory fit system

unless there`s anything else on the market that you can use

i did think about taking a live of the reversing lights to activate a relay to turn the front sensors off but not sure if it will work?

Only way would be relay controlled.

I bought the generic kit off ebay, the rears are wired into the reverse lights so are only active when in reverse. The fronts are wired into an ignition live without a switch, they only activate when you come into proximity i.e.- just over a meter away.
Its all controlled from one control module hidden away in the boot.

my elite has the factory fitted sensors & the front ones do still work when in reverse , would think they are meant to or you could potentially hit something when reversing into a space & swinging the front end back in .

Well finaly sorted it bought a micro switch from maplins and made a bracket So it is activated when I put the gearstick in first turning the front sensors on well chuffed .
