Default Where to get the Clutch replaced?

    Hi,

I don't know where to go to have my complete clutch system replaced. A local garage or a so called 'clutch specialist' if there are any near me. I thought of Mr Clutch, until i read bad reviews about them, seems like that place is a bit like kwit fit lol.

I quite fancy buying a performance clutch kit myself and have it fitted somewhere.

    Been looking at these kits

Its a very common job for virtually all garages, so if you have any trustworthy ones local to you then they will do, doesn't have to be a "specialist".

Not so sure about solid flywheels for the CDTi, I am sure I read some owners after having them fitted noted quite harsh vibrations, which is to be expected to be honest.

i have heard you need to get the DMF and Clutch replaced together. and if you get a single conversion you get issues. i fleet of taxis i know had this done to vec/mondeos and they all failed within 6months, and went back to DMF and clutch.

    thats just what i know

It's a complete clutch kit, not just a conversion. Flywheel, Clutch, CSC.

This isn't strictly the case, you only need to change the DMF if there is excessive play - some say do at the same time as the gearbox is out already (save labour costs ultimately).

Not really, only by the noise it may be making.

I have the sachs uprated one and 206 bhp and 360lb of torque and have no issues with it. You need a to push a bit more on the clutch but you can change gears quicker. I think my car had the uprated clutch fitted before anyone else went down this route and its still going strong
