Default Tinming belt snapped on 1.9CDTI 8v!

Howdy boys and girls been awhile since i was active on this forum, mainly due to work, family and car issues i just havent had the time (the vectras been behaving herself as usual though its the wifes ford thats ****e!)

Hopefully ill be around abit more now ive got some time on my hands

Anyhow! Had a phonecall earlier of a fellow Vectra owner saying he'd broken down and would i come have a look, upon closer inspection this is what we've found..

Looks to me asif the water pumps seized and took the belt with it.

I'm after abit of advice before we strip it down and inspect the damage tomorrow, i've done this numerous times on VW PD engines and they never seems to be much damage, a couple of valves at the most, but never on one of these fiat lumps. So is they anything i need to be aware of? Is it likely to be a total loss?

Hope everyones doing well Any advice is as always much appreciated

Ensure you use proper timing tools since the belt has broken.

To ensure timing is spot on.
Not sure if it's 8v or 16 that rockets snapp on but best checking them anyway

Not sure about the 8v but the 16v engine breaks rockers to save the head and valves so the head stays on.

as the 8v has buckets & shims on top of the valves I would expect there to be more damage than on a 16 valve .

Hopefully there isn't to much damage,we'll find out later today. Car was a 54 plate with 98k on the clock, still on original belt. I'd been telling him to get it done since he bought it with 80k on, think he's learnt his lesson now lol

autodata lists it as an interference engine so will more than likely have damage fella

also for the other guy above there listed as 100000 miles or ten years which ever comes first
