rolleyes Vectra SRI 150 cdti error p2279 that my main-dealer can't fix !

Firstly, I would like to say hi to all that may take sum kind of interest in my problem.
My name is Jon and ive owned this cdti for 10 months now and still haven't managed to solve error p2279 (air intake leak)

Work so far: tested by my self and at vaux main dealer
    All boost pipes including intercooler.
    All vac pipes.
Wiring loom tested according to main steeler.
    Pre cat cleaned out.
New egr valve replaced and software updated.
    New Map sensor.
    New Maf sensor.
    New Inlet manifold and actuator.
    New Turbo.
    New Boost control valve fitted.
    New Battery.
    New Glo plugs.

Symptoms: Car starts fine ticks over very nicely... When it reaches 85 deg (temp) it shows P2279 intermittently.. could be 5 mins or fifteen mins into journey. Always accurs when leaving a motorway and then braking.

From what i gather there is a ambiant air sensor on the ECU that can very rarely go wrong as its a Bosh. But im starting to think thats mines gone dodgy and needs replacing.

Has anybody thats owned a cdti experienced similar proplems to mine (only post I found almost identical to this was a Polish guy and after translating he still didn't find a fix but had not changed his ECU)

Ive spoken to a firm in Nottingham for a replacement ECU tech 2 removed and my mainsteeler about a new key and chip ready for programming. roughly £450 all in.

If there is anyone thats got the same problem then this post may help as i will not give in untill ive fixed it

had 1 at work a while ago with the same fault code and i took me ages to find,

check the cam timing , the 1 i had the cam timing was out , not the front cam to the crank but the rear cam was out , it had moved and wasn't timed up correctly with the front cam , it idled perfect and just seemed a bit down on power until u really tried to push it and it just showed this error

Had the same code before I changed the inlet manifold on mine. Code has never come back since then. I see you've already had your manifold replaced so don't know what else it could be.

Hey thnx for the swift replies.. Oh yer Husky i forgot to mention its had a cam belt kit from day one fitted by a exellent mechanic (propper petrol head lol) But I think im gunna have to check the rear cam after reading your helpfull post .
My symptoms are very similar to most EGR problem posts regarding P2279 in the way the car runs.. No power under 2k rpm soon as it hit 2k it boosts but feels like its being held back, feeling like surging forward and slightly left footing the brake.
You say you had the same error code but did it only throw the error after it hit 85 deg (temp) and when it threw the error did it loose all boost? Mine looses all boost but then it comes back on boost but intermitently (could be 30 seconds later could be 2 mins)
Deffo gunna look at the timing and thnx again chaps ....

If you wanted to venture over Essex way at some point, I could fit you an ECU out of my work car and program it in and then you could go for a test drive (if its a constantly repeatable thing) and hopefully that would prove if it is/isnt the ECU without forking out the £450

Can't remember the full details of when it happened but yeah it sounds the same this car had also had all the parts fitted same as urs and it was all done at a Vauxhall dealer and they couldn't sort it so the customer took it from thr dealership and it came to us , it wrecked my head for a few days tho till I decided sod it and checked the basis , the only problem u will have is that u can't get the rear timing pin in with the cam carrier fitted

Hey Plasma thats the best news ive had in along time regarding my ECU .. Can't thank you enough for offering to this for me.. There will deffo be a drink involved if you think you could make it possible Im from Leicester and coming down to see you sounds like a good plan.. The car is 04 and the ECU fitted is part number 55189629 LL .... The main steeler says its 55189926 but aparently there both the same unit for my registration. Hope the car at your work is compatible. Just don't wanna waste your time so thought i'd mention this.

Husky ive phoned my mechanic and he's gunna check if theres sum kinda lockout for checking the second cam as he believes its a tricky job to check as its inside the engine. Appently sumthing can spring forward without it and makes life hard if it happens.
Im no mechanic so il let him deal with that side of things... He did say that what you mentioned is deffinitely worth checking !

thanx again chaps ! well chuffed with the response
gotta hit the sack got an early start and a goodnight to all of you

will check the ecu part numbers to make sure they are compatible, then if the cam timing fails you can mosey on over and we'll swap ecu's
