Question Aircon problems - Not working, if anything air gets hotter turning on aircon???

As title really, We finally have some nice weather, so I thought i'd get the aircon on only to find out it's not working.

I have owned the car for about a year, but never really used it much before, So may just be out of gas, but before I go and get it re-gassed etc I wanted to check if there is anything else I should be looking at first?

As said in the title, if anything the air gets hotter when I turn the aircon on, although this could be in my head as it only feels marginal difference. May just be me worrying about it.

Anyone any ideas? Any known issues with aircon etc that can be checked easily?

Should use at least once a week to stop seals from drying out. It needs to be tested with UV dye to check for leaks. If your lucky just a regas if not could be
new condenser as these are prone to stone chips through bumper some people have put wire mesh on bumper to stop this

My air-con on my car is the same. I recently had a regas and had a service recently where my pollen filter was changed.

You had it re-gassed and it still doesn't work?

That's what I am worried is going to happen.

Any place offering a re-gas service should do a proper pressure test before hand, if it fails this most likely they wont charge you. As troutybrown says Aircon should be run often, even during the winter, to stop the seals dying out. IIRC the manual says once a month for about 20 mins. Are you hearing the compressor cut in when you push the button? If it is working ok the engine revs will die slightly as it cuts in. Seen quite a few people have issues with a failed compressor clutch.

That's interesting. Slikkers regassed mine, along with others, last year. Worked fine for a few weeks, then just went cool instead of cold, now doesn't work at all. They did indeed pressure and dye test it, all was fine. Not noticed any clicks or drop in revs, was wondering if something else had failed. Been meaning to get it back over to him, but with Wendy having so much time in/out of hospital since December , then me having surgery on both eyes never quite got around to it.

My other SRI has this very problem, been with the dealers many times (as originally reported in 2010 under warranty and again in last month of the MW) went in Friday, dye test revealed small leak in condenser. Ran a sealant through it and lost gas within 48 hours.. so now I have to go back again. Wouldn't mind but it's the time expenditure on my part - 2 hours lost per day. Now going again for a 7th visit, thats 14 hours!!
