Default help - locked myself out of garage!

As the topic suggests, I've gone nad lost my garage key and can't get in to it - anyone know how one would go about 'picking' the lock on a garage? I know this sounds like I'm trying to break in to someones garage, but its genuinely mine I promise!

Other than than, anyone know how much a locksmith might be to come and break in to it, and fit a new lock? Its just a standard front-lift single width garage door

    Thanks

Unless your drill is in the garage.

It's an up-and-over door I assume? Is the lock a spring operated cable or a rod?

As a kid I quite often used to open our locked garage door (cable operated) by just giving it a firm whack at the top next to where the latch located into the lock.

Guessing you have no windows or other doors to get in?

How is the roof held on, might be able to remove a few nails and get the roof sheets off?

Use a flat object between the top of the door and the frame to flick the latch at the top.

As we're discussing legitimate ways to open a garage door on an open forum ...can I suggest that anyone who does have an approved method to enter a garage up and over door replies via pm rather than an open post...
