Default Locking tool for 1.9 CDTI

Does anyone have this tool for borrowing? I'm down south and looking at prices on ebay, etc. With the exchange rate and delivery these things are coming up to 70euro!!

The car is a vectra cdti 120bhp. Year 2005

If i could borrow one (with a small rental fee!!) it'd be great.

Any comments would be really appreciated.

    Thanks

Thanks AntSSSS. The locking tool would help ease my mind though! The autodata t-belt book says its a 2,10hr job so hopefully not as bad as most.

Buying myself the set in a few weeks and doing the job in about 3 from now. If anyone needs to borrow the locking tools afterwards, just give a shout.

Hi all.....in an emergency here! Made a mess of timing belt change. When I had the locking tool off to take the old belt off Iand I rushed into fitting the new belt. It turned the crankshaft 1/4 of a turn but I don't know if it was anti or clockwise.

    So I'm in trouble!

There is a small notch on the crankshaft and one on the shoulder. Does anyone know if this is ok to use to line up? This could be used for a rough guide and then the locking tool could be used to get it precise.

Have a look in the Guides section as I think it shows you.

I only use those marks and never use the locking tool (Done about 20 now lol)

All done. It was tough going. Whatever could go wrong went wrong!

In the end I found that the crankshaft had been set at 180 degrees off (before I took off the original belt) which is why the locking tool didn't fit spot on the first time.

I turned it 180 and the locking tool fit perfect. If I matched the notch on the crankshaft sprocket to the notch on the shoulder I would have out by 90degrees and an engine. I honestly don't know how guys can mark this accurately. It's a small sprocket and leaves a lot of margin for error. I was also worried about the fuel pump sprocket setting but no need as it its common rail.

Also, the water pump ****ed water when I flooded it! Luckily I tested this before working at putting back on the timing belt.

A weekend I will never get back! First timing belt change on these, good fun!
