Vehicle : Vectra C 3.2 Gsi Auto (Zavoli LPG with Flashlube)

Trim : Gsi with loads of "Extras"

    Engine : 3.2 Z32SE (LPG)

    Year : 2004

    Mileage : 131,000

    Default Tech2 anywhere near Warrington / St.Helens

Hi guys, after checking the fitting of some of the items presently fitted to my 2004 Preface 3.2 Gsi, I would be so much happier if I could double check that the change it has undergone from 17" to 18" wheels has been inputted via Tech2 so as to get my speed / fuel / mileage readings "accurate".

It may already have been done, but it's information known only to a long gone former owner so I can't tell.

Is there anyone with "the knowledge & the kit" anywhere near me that wouldn't mind double checking this for me and changing the necessary settings if found necessary ?

    Beer Tokens readily available

    Cheers

Not required, as you go up in wheel size you come down in tyre profile to compensate.

Great news Ian and thanks for the assistance !!!

So basically, the wheel circumference for

    17" Wheel with 215/50 R17-91W Tyres is the same as 18" Wheel with 225/40 ZR18-92Y Tyres ??

Is so then the 18" with their tyres certainly look like they occupy much more of the wheel arch than the 17" and their tyres.

    Optical illusion perhaps ?

    Cheers and thanks again

Hi Woody, if you're readings aren't right from the computer, it may be worth having the ECU checked to make sure the correct circumference is selected,
when I checked mine it didn't have any selected, once set up correctly the computer got alot more accurate.

As Dek said, the correct tyre/wheel size needs to in the on Board Computer.

    Tyre size calculator here:
    http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator.htm

But basically the 18" tyre is the nearest to the 17" tyre, but the 18" is actually 10mm/0.37" less in diameter!!
The 18" tyre is -1.55% less than the 17", which is OK, the maximum difference should be + or - 2.5%.

My understanding is that Tech 2 only has two different size groups.

    215 55 16"
    225 45 17"

Then the other group is :-

    215 50 17"
    225 45 18"
    235 40 18"
    235 35 19"

Although more than happy to be proven wrong.

As a side note, http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator.htm shows that there is a -1.55% difference (-10mm) in rolling circumference between 215/50 17's and 225/40 18's if you took the 18's up to 235/40's that drops even lower to -0.31% difference (-2mm) but either are well within tolerance.

    235/35 19's are 0% different to 215/50 17's (0.02mm)

Thanks Dek, Ian & Tony, appreciate the input & advice.

I've just been onto Vx who tell me much the same as Ian did EXCEPT, they say that a direct replacement for the Vectra 17" with 215/50 tyres would be an 18" with 225/45 tyres, whereas as you can see the wheels I have on the car are 18" with 225/40 tyres. As such the readings are definitely out, I'm not sure by how much, and maybe its not a lot, but they are not like for like circumferences as they are now.

Loads of life left in them too, so I will definitely be needing to get the tech2 options confirmed and dealt with if its an option or have incorrect figures for the next 12 months or so.

    Cheers again to all

225/45 18's are the furthest out of all sizes mentioned so far (2.01% or 13mm) so interesting Vauxhall say that.

Well that was Lookers at St.Helens but I imagine he had some kind of Vx Spec list to refer to, he also said he would be quite happy to supply me with "the correct tyres" LOL.
